Laropal K 80, which is manufactured by BASF, is a condensation product of cyclohexanone. It also is known as a Ketone Resin N. This low molecular weight resin comes in the form of small pale color pellets. It has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 50°C and a light refractive index of 1.53. This resins most common uses are as a pigment binder and varnish. As a varnish it can be brushed or sprayed. Laropal K 80 can be made matte with the addition of microcrystalline wax or fumed silica.
